Exploring Traditional Songs, Stories, Ceremonies, and Spirits of the Golden Triangle
The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.
Mark Van Doren
A diverse range of Multimedia Presentations have been created over the years to introduce audiences to the extraordinary ancestral heritage—arts, customs, beliefs, and knowledge—of the ethnic peoples living high in the mountains of Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, and China. These talks come alive thanks to a fusion of vibrant photographs, recordings, and films, which are complemented with examples of traditional textiles, instruments, and artifacts.
Whether exploring Hmong Shamanism, the Textile Arts of the Karen or the Iu Mien, the Primal Power of Music, the Ritual Music that animates the Cycles of Life, the Importance of Preserving Intangible Heritage, or the Secular and Sacred Music of the Akha, Lahu, Lisu, Hmong, Mien, and Karen, all presentations highlight the vital role cultural practices play in defining each community.
The sampling noted below represents just some of many more presentations, which can be seen on the Songs of Memory site.
Please let us know if you are interested in hosting a Multimedia Presentation to share with your cultural organization, school, university, or museum. It would be a pleasure.
