Chiang Mai City Arts and Cultural Centre, the Center for Ethnic Studies and Development at Chiang Mai University, and Victoria Vorreiter are pleased to present “From the Hands of the Hills: The Richness of Traditional Craftsmanship,” a series of events that complement the multi-media museum exhibition, “Songs of Memory.”
Set in tribal huts, one for each of the six major ethnic groups in Northern Thailand, skilled artisans demonstrate their traditional practices of batik dyeing, weaving, basketry, embroidery, and musical instrment making. To school children and the general public, welcome to the impressive craftsmanship of the Akha, Lahu, Lisu, Hmong, Iu Mien, and Karen.
